Three psycotherapists provided psychological as well as emotional support for the children and the mothers of the Casa Hogar twice a week from October 2008 until July 2009.

An American expat teaches the children of the Casa Hogar English on Saturdays.

A local pediatrician attends to the medical needs of our children.
A professor of Wheelock College in Boston, MA, brings his family and students each year to Casa Hogar as part of Wheelock's service-learning and Spanish  acquisition project in Oaxaca.
In  2008 six students participated in the
service-learning project and in 2009 three students participated in the project.

The project participants typically spend the mornings at a language school. After lunch they head on out to the Casa Hogar in time to help serve lunch for the children, organize play and other activities for the afternoon.

''We have spent in excess of a month at the charity so far, 4 hours a day, 5
days a week; and really enjoy it. Coco and her boys are great fun, as well as being truly committed to the cause. They love the kids and happily work with them all the hours they can.

On a daily basis I find myself in the kitchen sink, washing, drying up and tidying, to help clear a backlog of dishes from the evening before, whilst Joy busies herself changing nappies, showering and clothing the kids, before helping with breakfast, and playtime.

A cup of coffee half way through the
morning with the team gives us all time to laugh as we try out our Spanish, before saying 'adios' and heading home. It's a hectic start to a day, but a thoroughly rewarding one, and we love it.''

Every month ProMexico Service Corps, PWPM, A.C. has a small budget to do a mini-project with a partner organization. This is usually done on a Saturday and it's a chance for the ProMexico volunteers to get to know and support a partner organization that is doing excellent community work.

This past January 29, 2010 ProMexico office staff and volunteers went to Casa Hogar de los Hijos de la Luna, for their monthly mini-project. Volunteers painted a wall in the main room where the children eat. They also painted several chairs with children's designs for use in a new room that was built in the garden area.

During their hard work, the volunteers also had a great time playing with the children. The ProMexico volunteers said that Hijos de La Luna is a very moving place because, but they do need a lot more support.
